Wirral . . . Memories of the 1960’s and ‘70’s

When you view this video you will realise how much Wirral has changed since the 1960's. You see things and places no longer with us. Great days at New Brighton, the famous tower on fire heralding the decline of the resort. Sailing and the beach at West Kirby in the 60's, the last days of steam trains at Woodside, the Birkenhead Docker taking people around the docks in open rail wagons, scenes at Cammell Laird, the tug Applegarth and the high rise tower block and subsequent demolition in Birkenhead. There are nostalgic scenes at Eastham, Spital, Willaston and Burton and shopping in Birkenhead and its old Market at prices long since forgotten. Miss New Brighton of 1964 is not forgotten. These are just a few of the items you will see when you play this video.
